Floors And Paint!!!!!

Here is our painting plan (great colors from Restoration Hardware):

Our floors are here! And you can see the "latte" walls and "buttercream" ceiling:

Random length, 3/4 inch thick, wide (5-8 inches) highlands plank, reclaimed oak wood flooring. The ribbed side is the bottom-some pieces are turned over so you can see what the top of the floors look like:

"Highlands Plank" is "lightly planed leaving remnant original sawn texture on about half of the plank face," which means its basically super rustic looking :) The Woods Company (our supplier) describes our wood as "manufactured from 100% reclaimed boards, planks, and beams salvaged from old barns, houses, mills, and other aged rural buildings. This flooring possesses varying degrees of character marking, such as knots, nail holes, weather cracks, and occasional insect traces. Grain and color variation is also a distinguishing characteristic." Cool!!

Heres the "butter" middle and back bedrooms in normal lighting...

And here is the "butter" middle and back bedrooms when the morning sunshine is flowing in!

A bit tooooooo yellow for my taste but, hey, its sunlight :)

And now we head down the hall to the piece de resistance (drum roll please)...

Ta daaaa (symbols crashing)!!! We love it! I think it actually looks better in person. I guess youll have to come over and see it :)

We Ordered Our Windows!!

After months of indecision (double hung or casement, grids all over or just the top, maybe no grids at all, Pella or Marvin) we finally ordered our windows! The only thing we knew from the get go was that we wanted wood not vinyl. The price was better at Pella but the service and options were far, far superior at Marvin. Ok, lemmie show you what we got!

We have gridless double hung throughout most of the house:

A double casement in the kitchen above the sink:

And glue chip (obscured) glass for the windows at the top/bottom of steps and in the bathroom (I love how it looks like vines!):

Dining Room Chandelier

You might remember I was unsure whether to go with electric or candle light in the dining room. Well I was so excited when I found this (electric but looks like candle):

Bedroom Chandelier

I know its def not the norm but Im thinking of painting the walls and the high ceiling of our bedroom a stormy blue (instead of painting the ceiling cream or white). I think itll look like a night sky! But I want a really neat chandelier to break things up a bit-what do you think about this:

Kitchen Cabinets!

This is similar to what our kitchen cabs look like-shaker style but ours will be white with different (and much cooler) hardware (see below).

This is currently our top contender (knob for cabs, pull for drawers):
