Ta Daaa!

So, a little disappointed we couldnt paint the muntins on the kitchen casements like we could on the french doors.  Both are true divided light but the kitchen casement is by Marvin Windows-wood with aluminum clad-that shouldnt be painted over so...stuck with those creamy muntins (that sounds dirty).

Obligatory pictures of our cute dog...

Painting Has Begun!

Ok so-only the stucco was painted so far in the front so the white trim and the green door are on their way outtie (as is the wrought iron set on the porch-we put it there kind of just to see how it looks and I dont like it).

You can see a bit of the trim color in these pictures on the front of the upper level and on the left window.  Again, green door (such a pretty shade-sorry to see it go really) and white trim are on their way out.  (PECO will be out to raise those ugly power lines up a bit.)

Another Step Taken In Our Outdoor Oasis

We returned home from the garden store to find folks taking pictures of our front yard-in particular, our stone path and creeping thyme.  Turns out there was a garden tour in our neighborhood-we were not a house on the tour but these nice ladies said we should be. They said our style was simple and classic-that made my day!!  Especially since there really are some gorgeous properties in this area and we are really just getting started.

So, here is an update on what has taken place out back:
We love the difference of texture here-the light flowing yellow coreopsis moonbeam (the yellow guys) contrasting with the more defined salvia.

Then we added some sage in the side pots and some lavender in the little guy up front.

We added some flat stones to give this corner more texture and placed them out a bit further than necessary to house the pots in an effort to "pull" the space out and join the rest of the seating area.

Morgen stops to smell the flowers (and then drink the rain water accumulated in the saucer).

Our first visitors-butterflies!  (...or moths)

It is hard to see but the two feathery marks mid left below are the guy above doing a little butterfly dance with his friend.

And because she is so cute...

It's Curtains For Us!

Next stop for first floor: curtains (finally)!

Going with the Heavy Weight Textured Belgian Linen in Sand from RH.  Yes we had considered velvet but the texture of the linen is much more varied and exciting.

Sand blends best with our Latte walls-almost the exact same shade which is our preference as we dont want eyes drawn to contrasting curtains.  Sheer Belgian Linen panels, same shade, will go under.

Hardware (same we used on our kitchen cabs):

Family Room

Media center is from same line as sideboard in the Dining Room.  Our space is small but open so Hubs thought this would tie the neighboring rooms together nicely (smart boy)!  Our cool tv (which we do not yet own) will hang on the wall that we had reinforced for this purpose.

Sofa: not sure whether army duck or linen fabric but will be same shade as linen chairs in the Dining Room-again, ties things together.

Bedroom

So after much searching for the perfect material, color, and pattern we settled on:

Also, thinking this color might be a good pick for curtains:

It might not seem like these shades complement each other but I saw a similar combination (blue wall, grey bedding, taupe curtains) and thought it looked really nice:

Flint and Slate

Slate is a brown/grey-shown here on the bottom right:

Flint is a grey/blue-shown here on the bottom left:

Adding Some Color!

Our Color Consultant has been great-he came over and painted some of his samples for us and also painted two shades we liked from RH.  These are on the far left.  We have decided to go with Slate for the body and Flint for the trim and doors.

A closer look:

I do fear the Flint trim will get lost in our dark grey-shingled second floor-the CC suggested using the Slate for the trim on the upper level.  On one hand I could see how that could tie things together but on the other I prefer to keep things uniform...Decision time will be soon :)

Dining Room Mirror

Thinking about this guy...

Pottery Barn Mirror
Not sure if all those panes are going to be too busy.

Free Room & Board!

No takers yet...

Out Back

A work in progress...Vines are being grown along the fenceline, wildflowers along the perimeter of the seating area. Adding some pavers in the corners of the gravel for some contrasting texture and raised flower bed in the corner. A fire element (hubs is pulling for a chiminea), a new shed, and gravel pathways leading in.

Dining Room

This is still a work in progress but many have asked to see. We would like to place a large leaning mirror atop the sideboard and find some large cream unscented candles for the glass candle holders. And of course...curtains :)
